Arturo Benedetto Marcello

Benedetto Marcello werd geboren als lid van een adellijke familie op 31 juli of 1 augustus 1686 in Venetië. Ondanks het feit dat Benedetto een leerling was van Antonio Lotti en Francesco Gasparini eiste zijn vader dat hij rechten ging studeren. Benedetto werd jurist maar hij wist zijn werk te combineren met de muziek. In 1711 was hij een lid van de Raad van Veertig (in het stadsbestuur van Venetië) en in 1730 ging hij naar Pula als districtsgouverneur. Volgens Benedetto zelf was zijn gezondheid geschaad door het klimaat in Istria, na acht jaar ging hij naar Brescia met pensioen, waar hij op 24 juli 1739 is gestorven in Brescia.   Benedetto Marcello 1686-1739 Benedetto Marcello componeerde een diversiteit van muziekstukken waaronder kerkmuziek, oratoria, honderden solo-cantates, concertos en symfoniën.
