Arturo Benedetto Marcello

Benedetto Marcello est né le 31 juillet ou le 1er août 1686 à Venise. Il était issu d’une famille noble. Bien qu’il ait étudié la musique avec Antonio Lotti et Francesco Gasparini, son père voulait faire de lui un homme de loi. Benedetto a mené de pair une carrière de juriste, d’homme public et de musicien. En 1711 il devint membre du Conseil des Quarante (à la commune de Venise) et en 1730 il a été nommé gouverneur de district de Pula. Benedetto était juriste, mais il trouva moyen de combiner son travail et sa musique. À cause de sa santé détériorée par le climat d’Istrie, Marcello a pris sa pension au bout de huit ans, et s’installa à Brescia où il décéda en juillet 1739.   Benedetto Marcello 1686-1739 Benedetto Marcello composa diverses musiques dont de nombreuses œuvres d’église, oratorios, des centaines de cantates solo, duos, sonates, concertos et symphonies.
